Championing Authenticity Through Sound, Soul & Self-Expression.
BLESSED, born Blessed Samuel Joe-Andah, is a Ghanaian-Australian artist, producer, and mentor whose career has helped shape the face of Australian hip-hop and alternative R&B. Raised in Western Sydney after emigrating from Accra, Ghana, BLESSED grew up immersed in gospel music thanks to his Christian missionary parents. This foundation, combined with early inspiration from artists like Kanye West, propelled him toward a unique and genre-blending musical path.
He first emerged under the name Miracle, gaining national recognition with the track “Better Dayz”—a hip-hop reinterpretation of Pete Murray’s “Better Days.” Signing to Sony Music at just 18, Miracle released the Mainland EP and toured alongside international acts like Childish Gambino and Tyga. But it was his evolution into BLESSED that marked a turning point, both artistically and personally.
As BLESSED, he has crafted a sound that fuses hip-hop, emo, grunge, and soul, with a strong emphasis on authenticity, individuality, and emotional depth. His 2020 mixtape Music Is The Medicine and debut album AUSSIE BLACKSTAR(2022) both reflect this raw, genre-defying style. He continues to release work that is deeply introspective, including the Lockdown Tapes Vol. 1 and his single “Heya,” a tribute to his Ghanaian roots produced in collaboration with Matt Corby.
Beyond his own work, BLESSED is a dedicated collaborator and mentor. He’s worked with some of Australia's most promising artists including The Kid LAROI—whom he mentored early in his career—Manu Crooks, Maina Doe, Anfa Rose, and B Wise. He is also a founding member of the rap collective BBGB, aimed at amplifying diverse voices in the Australian music scene.
With a strong belief in the power of self-expression, BLESSED brings not only artistic excellence to his work but also a commitment to helping emerging artists find their voice. As a mentor, he offers deep industry experience, creative guidance, and a genuine passion for nurturing the next generation of talent.
