Creative Wellbeing Specialist & Advocate for Mental Health in the Arts.
Dr Ash King is a registered psychologist, speaker, researcher, and Wellbeing Content & Programs Lead at Support Act — Australia’s leading music industry charity. Blending clinical expertise with a deep understanding of life in the creative industries, Ash is a trusted figure in the field of mental health and wellbeing for artists, performers, and cultural workers across the country.
Her work is rooted in lived experience. After a career in music was cut short by a permanent vocal injury, Ash turned heartbreak into healing — retraining as a psychologist and dedicating her life to supporting others in their creative and personal growth. Today, she’s one of the rare professionals who speaks both the language of the mind and the rhythm of the stage.
With a PhD in cyberpsychology from the University of Sydney, Ash’s research explores how identity, emotion, and community are shaped in digital spaces — a vital lens for understanding modern wellbeing. She brings this academic insight into the real world through transformative programs, practical tools, and compelling conversations that meet artists where they are — whether they’re on tour, online, or in recovery.
Ash has delivered dynamic talks and workshops for leading global companies including Amazon, Pinterest, Linktree, Pedestrian TV, APRA AMCOS, and BIGSOUND, helping both individuals and organisations build creative resilience, emotional intelligence, and purpose-driven lives. Her style is warm, relatable, and deeply human — using pop culture, humour, and storytelling to make mental health not only approachable but empowering.
At Support Act, Ash leads the design and delivery of national wellbeing programs for Australia’s music and live performance communities — including initiatives that address burnout, anxiety, imposter syndrome, digital overload, and identity loss in a fast-moving, high-pressure industry.
Whether she’s guiding emerging artists through mental health challenges or advising veteran performers on post-career transition, Ash brings clarity, compassion, and evidence-based tools to every session.
Her mission is clear: to help people in the arts go deeper, get wiser, and live happier — without losing their creative spark.
